Marijuana tolerance break

If you are an everyday marijuana user smoking at least one joint a day, or you feel you are becoming one, or simply you are interested what is a "tolerance break", or you have ever wondered "Why doesn't marijuana get me high any more? Why can't I get really high anymore?", or your "highs" are not as intensive and strong as in the beginning of your cannabis use days, you will find an explanation in this article.

First of all the quality of marijuana you smoke may have got lower. Consider going to Amsterdam for objective comparision :-) or growing your own buds using available online cannabis seeds. But that is probably not the issue here.

Now seriously let me explain how the human cannabinoid receptors work when treated with thc molecules every day for some time. Cannabis psychoactive component thc binds to endogenous cannabinoid receptors in the brain. Like with such other human brain receptors, continued stimulation of the receptor would lead to either desensitization or down regulation (decreased stimulation or reduction in number), affecting the quality of the stimulation experienced. To put it simply by supplying your brain receptors with constant stream of marijuana thc molecules you made your receptors tired, meaning they got desensitized. Your tired receptors have developed a tolerance to marijuana stimulation. Maybe you even hit a so called permastone.

What can you do about it ? Well the most popular choice for most recreational marijuana users is to take a shorter or longermarijuana tolerance break. How does it work and how long is it going to take in my case, you may ask. Marijuana break is a period of time from one day to a few months when you completly, totally do not smoke marijuana at all. By doing that you let your cannabinoid receptors take a rest in order to sensitize again. Usually at least a week of abstinence is needed to sensitize you to marijuana again. But if you have smoked for a few months a week of break is not going to be enough because you have build up a thc residue in you bodyfat. A week after smoking cannabis only 60-70% of the THC has left the body because it is stored in the body fat. It takes about 4-6 weeks before thc is removed from your body fat. So you can assume that 6 weeks of marijuana tolerance break has removed all the thc from your body. Note that during your marijuana smoking break you may experience marijuana withdrawal syndrome for a week or 2 and some craving you'd have to resist to mantain your tolerance break.

Now you are fresh as a newbie and can test if your marijuana tolerance break worked the way you planned :-)

Marijuana Users Comments on Marijuana Tolerance Break

bervillefreak:
Ive been smoking about 8 months everyday a few times a day sometimes.
I'm on day 5 of my first tolerance break.
I'm going 7 days.
But for those of you that have taken a week break what should i expect when i get back at it?
Does a week really make that much of a diffrence?

Amps420:
it should it will be like that beautiful day you fisrt got high even some sketchyness might come back
1 week will make a very noticeable difference. Congrats on making it this far! I'd say a week is the cutoff for making a noticeable difference, and even longer is only better. Way to go, and have fun in a few days.

Donovan:
I just came off of a month long tolerance break with a wonderful purchase of 7.8 grams of some Sour Diesel. That night I was than I have ever been in my life. That is a completely true statement. I suggest you should do more than 7 days to get any noticeable effects.

GravityGreens:
