Legislation: Cannabis is illegal and is now a Class C drug. It's against the law to possess it, sell it or give it away, grow it or let your place be used for smoking it. The local government allows doctors to prescribe marijuana for medicinal purposes, while the herbal medicine is also self-prescribed regularly on the streets and in the clubs.

Law enforcement: Smoking pot is very common in most of England, and so is in Blackpool. Police don’t occasionally look for it, unless you smoke publicly. NORML reports that English police don't even consider possession a big deal anymore. If you are unlucky enough to get caught, most chances are the pot will be compounded and you will be released. If the occasion did not pass smoothly, courts usually impose a fine in cases involving cannabis products.

Although the cops here aren't too bothered about possession (you get an on-the-spot warning & they nick your stash, bastards. If you've got a lot of previous warnings for possession, or they think you might be dealing then it can get more serious), if the cops think you've been smoking weed before driving you'll be in a lot of trouble. Might be worth catching the tube instead.

Where to buy marijuana: On the street it's quite hard to get hooked up, you really need to have a local contact. Selling dope is still very much illegal in the UK and I'd expect being behind bar's would impede one's business. Try you're luck with skaters and people who look like they enjoy being in Blackpool (they must be stoners). If you're polite and discreet to the right type of person I'm sure you'll get lucky.

More information: Come to Blackpool by all means, you can't smoke inside ANYWHERE so it's not really a good place for tokers. But there are some nice parks and the beach to have a go at. There are places one could drive to around the area, worth buying a map if you plan to have a "designated driver". For Nightlife, Come, Try Walkabout (friendly relaxed bar, really nice staff), try Club Sanuk, try The Syndicate; a club is a club.

If you prefer live music go to The Blue Room, the staff are pretty friendly and will be able to point you in the direction of some good live music.

Other than that, We've got Donkeys, Illuminations, a Tower, The Pleasure Beach, loads of stuff. All very nice, Currently under re-furbishment, but come down anyway!
