How to Harvest Marijuana - Marijuana Seeds Guides

Harvesting your cannabis plant is a simple operation. It involves only a few steps and by reading this short tutorial you will be able to cut the plant, remove its buds and leaves and finally dry and store them so it does not lose any of its qualities. Those of you who did actually grow your pot but didn't know how to harvest it, please continue reading.

You can start by cutting the buds from the plant. Please make clean cuts and try not to damage the plant. First take the buds from top of the plant which are also known as nuggets. For cutting, you can use your ordinary scissors, but be sure they are sharp enough to be able to make some clean cuts. You can leave the stem on the buds so you can hang the buds easier while drying. When you harvest the buds you can dry them. Leave them on a clean dry surface. You can use your old newspapers or better yet some old paper bag for this.

Now it's time to harvest the leaves. Cut them off the plant and also do cut them if they are attached to the buds. Place them too on the paper bag and let them dry slowly.

You should have a proper place to dry your marijuana. If you don't dry it properly it can lose its potency. Your drying room should have minimum of light and a constant temperature of 60-70 degrees F. Higher temperature and too much light can devastate your marijuana potency. Because we have left stems on the buds, we can hang them upside down on some string or wire. This is good because it will allow air circulation around the buds so they can dry slowly and evenly. It is a good idea to have a small fan which will circulate the air in the drying room. Time needed for drying your marijuana will depend on the variety of your cannabis plant and will be somewhere between 7 and 10 days.

After your marijuana is fully dried you can store it in some container with good sealing. You can use a kitchen jar for this. Stir the buds in the jar from time to time so that the temperature distribution inside of it is even. Moisture in your jar with marijuana is a bad thing as it will spoil it. If you grow more than one cannabis variety you should label your jar so you can avoid mixing the jars.
